On a late summer day in 1902, the full-rigger Preussen, biggest sail ship ever built at that time, and the only one with an unprecedented five masts, slid down the ways of the John C. Tecklenburg shipyard at Gestemunde, Germany. Nobody dreamed that almost a century later this incomparable vessel would be the inspiration for the 2000 flagship for Star Clippers, only the second five-masted full-rigger in history.
